Books Everywhere, Anytime

Okay so that might not be what BEA stands for, but it’s pretty much an accurate description of the annual literary conference that goes by that acronym. I hit the Javits Center last week to peddle my book JACK STRONG TAKES A STAND, which is my first non-Charlie Joe effort. It’s about the most over-scheduled boy ever born, it comes out on September 24 and it’s hilarious! But that’s beside the point. The point is, BEA is a booklover’s paradise. Authors, books, panels, celebs pushing their bios, self-published newbies trying to get noticed — they’re all here, and they are plenty of ’em. I got to hang with the Macmillan folks who made me feel special, even though my signing was a no-ticket-required event. (Come on BEA people, throw a guy a bone.)

I also got to spend a little time with fellow MacKids author Obert Skye, whose Creature From My Closet books average approximately six laughs a page.

And this was super cool: I got a tote bag in honor of Charlie Joe Jackson’s Bookshelf, a fab summer promo the MacKids folks are doing. Find out more here.

So yeah, BEA — which actually stands for Book Expo America — is pretty cool. Don’t believe everything you read —  it appears that books are alive and well! I was very grateful to be invited. Next year you people are going to totally need tickets for me to sign your books, though! Or not. -Tg

You’re at BEA and I’m at home reading… Jack Strong! If I make it to BEA next year, I’ll definitely be in line to say hello!
